Editorial Titles Meta Box
The Editorial Title meta box allows you to manage multiple titles on one Article when used in conjunction with the Leadin block. This allows you to have a longer title with keywords for SEO purposes, and a shorter title that is design-friendly when viewing the article.
Let’s take the following article as an example:
- In the back end of WordPress, the title of the article is: “The Merrimack Valley Gas Explosions Were a Suburban Disaster.” This is also know as the Hed.
- A Leadin block has been added to the article that includes a shorter title that is more visually pleasing.
- In the back end, under the Editorial Titles meta box, the checkbox “Visually hide title?” is checked so the title is visually hidden on the article, however it is still outputted in the code as an H1 tag, which means search engines will find this title.
- If the article had a sub headline (also know as a Dek), it could also be added here and be outputted in the code without visually being displayed.
- Also, a One-Line Headline has been added. This headline will be displayed in other places throughout the Bostonia website where the article will be featured and space maybe limited, like the Related Stories block for example.
