For <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2020\/remote-teaching-learning-chemistry-during-covid-19-pandemic\/\">example<\/a>, if your article features a story and a video, you can credit both the author and the videographer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before creating an Author you need to first create an Author type. An Author type can be anything you&#8217;d like, but some common types are Staff and Guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>To create an Author type:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Under Authors, choose Author types<\/li><li>Enter the name of the Author type and the slug, and then click &#8220;New Author Type&#8221;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"\/bu-prepress\/files\/2020\/05\/author-type.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4>To create an Author:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Under Authors, click &#8220;Add New Author&#8221;<\/li><li>Enter the Authors name in the Title field<\/li><li>Under Author Information, select the Author type<\/li><li>Enter additional contact information if applicable in the Author Information, such as social media accounts and a biography<\/li><li>You can also choose Featured stories to appear on their profile page from the post choose below<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"\/bu-prepress\/files\/2020\/05\/create-author.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you have an Author created, you can assign them to articles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4>To add an Author to an article:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Open or create the article<\/li><li>In the settings on the right, expand the Authors tab<\/li><li>Select the Type of author, if you have only one type it should be automatically selected<\/li><li>From the drop down below, select the Author you want to add to the article<\/li><li>Select the &#8220;Add author&#8221;<\/li><li>If you want to add an additional Author to the article (like a photographer or videographer), select another author from the drop down menu and select &#8220;Add author&#8221; again.<\/li><li>You can then edit the different authors Roles by choose an appropriate credit for each from the Roles drop down menu.<\/li><li>You can also reorder the authors by dragging and dropping them.<\/li><li>Save your article.<\/li><li>If you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/wpdocs.bu.edu\/bu-prepress\/blocks\/bu-prepress-blocks\/metabar-block\/\">Metabar<\/a> included in your article the Author&#8217;s name will appear within it.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"\/bu-prepress\/files\/2020\/05\/add-author.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Authors are a custom post type that serve as profile pages that include contact info, a biography and featured articles.
