Framework

A framework speeds up the development process of a website. Usually, when we redesign a website and reference our framework, we are referring to the Responsive Framework, which is a mobile-first WordPress theme framework that we maintain in Interactive Design. Older frameworks that we no longer maintain include the Flexi Framework, which was deprecated several years ago as standards in web design changed and developed over time, rendering its approach obsolete.

Why Responsive?

Migrating to the Responsive Framework is an easy way to quickly modernize your website. Your website will be mobile-friendly out of the box, as well as adhere to accessibility standards. You gain access to new customizations and functionality by moving to Responsive, including:

  • The ability to select from multiple color palettes
  • The ability to choose from a variety of BU-specific font options
  • Multiple layout and navigation options to suit any website architecture, large or small
  • Access to the all-new BU Banners plugin, which supports adding titles, descriptions, calls to action, and even video to your banner area
  • Automatic access to future updates and improvements

Flexi Framework

Flexi Framework was our former WordPress theme framework and is built significantly differently from Responsive Framework. Migrating from Flexi Framework base themes, such as Flexi Red or Flexi Comm Ave, is relatively easy and painless, though you will likely need to update your banner photos. Migrating from a Flexi custom theme to Responsive Framework may require custom development work, depending on what content and functionality from your custom theme needs to be preserved in the new site.

Flexi Framework is deprecated, which means we no longer support or fix bugs in Flexi unless they are critical security issues. To receive the best support, contact your account executive to learn how to migrate your site to Responsive Framework today.
