Live
Live is how we refer to the environment that holds our live websites. These websites are available to users, and people often depend on them for information. When a site is live, or when changes are being made to live sites, it is incredibly important to be careful, so that interruptions to the website or user experience are minimal to none. Live is one part of a larger production environment, which holds all University website content, including content and websites that are in progress or under review (staging).
One of the protections we have in this environment is that you cannot manually upload any changes to it. The only way to make a change to live—or any production environment—is to request a deploy.
