Navigation
Responsive uses BU Navigation to manage where pages live on the site and whether they display in the navigation.
As you update your navigation, be thoughtful about how many and what sort of top navigation items you have. Each navigation item is a choice for users. Keep these choices logical, with clear and concise labels that tell users what to expect when they click to that page.
Avoid entering all uppercase or all lowercase labels in the navigation label (unless it is an editorial requirement, such as an acronym). Responsive and its child themes automatically handle upper- and lowercase text for styling purposes, so when you manually enter upper- or lowercase labels, it means that the theme can't do its job. If you redesign your site or switch to a different theme, and you've manually entered upper- or lowercase labels, you will need to update each individual instance for the new theme to work correctly.
If you want to change this style in Responsive, check out Custom CSS, which allows you to use CSS to target navigation and make this change without affecting content.
The default navigation layout
The default navigation will support as many top-level navigation items as you have allowed in Appearance > Primary Navigation. More information on editing the main navigation in this layout option can be found at edit the full menu.
The top navigation layout
The top navigation layout displays your navigation above the branding.
The side navigation layout
The side navigation layout displays your navigation on the left side. Side navigation is highly recommended for sites with a relatively flat navigation structure. If you have five to seven top-level pages and none of them have child pages, this is a great choice for your site.
The no-navigation layout
You can choose not to show navigation at all. This is a great option if you don't need navigation, as in the case of single-page sites.
Changing your navigation layout
Navigation layout options are available under Appearance > Customize, in the Layout section. In most cases, you should use the default layout.
