Approaching the search process as an international student and thinking about how to identify employers who sponsor visas? If you are looking to answer any of these questions, then this session is for you! In this interactive workshop, we will discuss not only how to find jobs but also how to effectively read job descriptions to get a sense of the real candidates employers are seeking. Importantly, we will discuss existing and new platforms available to support your job search as a bioscience graduate student at Harvard. This session will be relevant and valuable for job seekers at any stage. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: - list and find a variety of job search sites, including those specific to particular sectors or functions - develop search queries to identify jobs of interest, including integrating alerts and routing for better time management - reading postings to dissect basic, essential and preferred skills, and developing a capacity to outline your own skills with these requests - vetting employers and postings for the likelihood of visa and other forms of sponsorship - resources for organizing and assembling job search materials.
