Degrees & Programs is a post type that contains information about various Degrees & Programs offered at CFA.

Post features

Navigation

The Degrees & Programs post type includes several navigation components to help users understand where they are within a section. The navigation and post hierarchy is managed by the BU Navigation plugin. You can edit the order and hierarchy of posts by going to Degrees & Programs > Edit Order or by selecting the “Placement in Navigation” metabox on an individual Degree & Program post.

Breadcrumb Navigation – Located at the top of the page or just under the banner if the page has a banner.
Sub-Navigation – Located under the breadcrumb nav and adapts as users make selections to show the next set of sub-post to the current post.
Section Navigation – Located at the bottom of the page, between the related content and the footer. This gives the user an overview of the post and sub-posts within a section.

Block editor

The content area for Degrees & Programs posts uses the new block editor from WordPress. All the blocks that are available on Custom Post Types are available on Degrees & Programs along with some additional blocks. See examples and learn more about each block below:

Program Page Settings

When creating a Degrees & Programs post there are various selections you can make:

Type: Degree, Page, Program
- The Page type is just a basic post with no additional fields.
- The Degree and Program types include the following additional fields:
  - Degree Options
  - Education Level
  - Formats
  - Availability
  - Location
- The Degree type also includes:
  - Title
  - Description
  - Minimum credits
  - Minimum semesters
  - Minimum courses

Program Call to Action

Towards the bottom of the page under “Program Call to Action” you can enable a CTA button that will appear in the Sub-Navigation. You can also select whether it will appear on all its child pages.

Section Overrides

Towards the bottom of the page under “Section Overrides” you can disable any section of related content you don’t want to show on a post.

Event Topics

Towards the bottom of the page under “Event Topics” you can choose what type of events to show on a post by choosing one or multiple event topics.

Featured Image

On the right side of the page add a Featured Image to the post. This image will show as the thumbnail image for the post on listing pages and related content sections.

Excerpt

On the right side of the page add an Excerpt to the post. This will show a description for the post on listing pages and related content sections.

Taxonomies

The post type has been set up with the taxonomies requested by the CFA team. You can add as many terms as you need to each post within the relevant taxonomies.

Customize the Related Content Titles

You can customize the titles that precede the related content and events. Please note, this will change the titles for all Degrees & Programs posts.

To customize the titles go to Settings > Theme Settings.
Scroll to where it says Degrees & Programs.
Enter the custom titles.
Save your changes.
