Post Type
A post type structures the data for a type of content that is maintained in WordPress. Some post types that you might be familiar with are page, post, profile, and revision. In a custom design, we often discover a new content type that has different data needs than a page or post. One example might be a degree program, which needs a small description, a link to apply to the program, and careers that are associated with that degree program. When you hear “post type,” it’s just shorthand for how the development team will build a new content type for you to manage in WordPress. For new content types, always work with a developer, who can help you map the data and content you want to include in your new content type to the best structure for a new post type.
