Taxonomy

A taxonomy allows for the classification of things. In WordPress, there are two built-in taxonomies: categories and tags. These taxonomies help further classify posts and custom post types. You can also create a custom taxonomy. For example, a common custom taxonomy we use for profiles is Research Area, which might include terms such as Data Science, Arts & Humanities, or Education.
